"Waiting Children" Adoptions

What is a Waiting Child?
Children in the Waiting Child programs have special needs.
They may have physical, emotional, learning, or developmental disabilities. Or they may be older than age 2, or be part of a sibling group.
And according to the CCAA website, special needs adoptions will not be included in the current quota system, so applicants need not wait for an opening in their agency's quota.
Financial assistance is frequently available for special needs adoptions. It may be in the form of a reduction of the agency's adoption program fee, and/or special agency funds for these adoptions, in addition to tax credits and employer assistance programs (if available).
